DFOS Application Engineer

Job Summary

The DFOS Application Engineer supports the development, testing, deployment, and ongoing assistance of fiber optic leak detection and data acquisition products. This role involves technical expertise, project coordination, field support, and customer service across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct initial product performance testing and documentation for fiber optic products.
• Develop project objectives and timelines, tracking progress and reporting to stakeholders.
• Coordinate resources internally and externally to meet project goals.
• Create and maintain user manuals, application notes, datasheets, and other support documents.
• Prepare sales and production documentation such as bills of materials, assembly instructions, and testing procedures.
• Generate project-specific documents including as-built drawings and electronic mapping files.
• Provide on-site engineering support during new product releases, including data collection and troubleshooting.
• Train field technicians on installation, troubleshooting, and best practices for new products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum 5 years engineering experience in product development, applications, or field engineering.
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Project management or design experience required.
• Experience with new product deployment.
• Knowledge of fiber optic systems, instrumentation, data acquisition, networking, or industrial monitoring preferred.
• Experience in customer-focused engineering or technical support.
• Familiarity with engineering drawing tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Bluebeam.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects with limited supervision.
• Experience with software or firmware development is a plus.
• Understanding of product development processes including design qualification, stage gating, testing, and validation.
• Willingness to learn new skills and tools to improve products and processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers and standard office software.
