Job Summary

The Engineering Manager- ERP at Foodics will actively develop the core ERP platform by writing code and collaborating closely with engineers. This role involves building the product from the ground up and eventually leading the team responsible for it as the product grows.

Responsibilities

• Write production-level code as a primary contributor rather than solely managing.
• Take ownership of major system components including core modules, transactional foundations, compliance, and integrations.
• Make key architectural decisions critical to the platform’s long-term viability.
• Set engineering standards through code reviews, testing practices, and appropriate use of AI tools.
• Collaborate with product managers and domain experts to translate business needs into system features.
• Lead hiring efforts by defining roles, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
• Mentor existing engineers to enable independent ownership of system parts.
• Implement processes only when necessary and guide the product through its transition into a core business function.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering experience including leadership roles such as Engineering Manager, tech lead, or founding engineer.
• Currently hands-on with regular coding in the present role.
• Experience building ERP or accounting systems with understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and period close.
• Strong full-stack development skills, comfortable with both backend and frontend.
• Regular use of AI tools and judgment on their reliability in daily work.
• Experience building products from scratch in small teams with ambiguous requirements and rapid cycles.
• Motivated to both build the product now and build the team later.
• Ability to work substantially within GMT+3 time zone.

Nice to haves

• Experience building or operating ledgers, double-entry engines, or large-scale transaction processing systems.
• Background in fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
• Experience hiring and growing an engineering team from the initial members.
• Familiarity with ERP platforms such as ERPNext, Odoo, NetSuite, or SAP.
• Experience with ZATCA e-invoicing or similar regional regulatory compliance.
