Job Summary

The Sustainability Lead Engineer is responsible for leading the implementation of sustainability strategies and ensuring environmental performance and green building standards during the construction supervision of major building and hospitality projects. The role ensures compliance with sustainability targets, regulations, and best practices to support resource-efficient and environmentally responsible developments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage sustainability monitoring programs aligned with project and corporate goals.
• Track project performance in energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and resource use.
• Support sustainability action plans to meet project targets.
• Promote sustainable procurement and environmentally preferable materials and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with green building certification systems and review contractor documentation for certification alignment.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and certification bodies to meet sustainability requirements and maintain certification records.
• Oversee resource management initiatives including energy, water, material consumption, and construction waste management on site.
• Coordinate with stakeholders including clients, project teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities on sustainability matters and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Preferred Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Renewable Energy, or related discipline.
• Professional accreditations such as LEED AP, Estidama PQP, WELL AP, Envision SP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Minimum 12-15 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or green building projects.
• At least 7 years of experience in construction supervision or site supervision consultancy.
• Experience with sustainability programs for large-scale buildings, convention centers, hotels, resorts, and mixed-use developments.
• Familiarity with green building certifications like LEED, Mostadam, BREEAM, WELL, or equivalents.
• Preferred experience in GCC projects, especially in Saudi Arabia.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable design, green construction, environmental management systems, and sustainability certification processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, sustainability reporting tools, and data analysis software.
