Job Summary

The Senior Research And Development Engineer is responsible for prototyping and evaluating emerging technologies and AI capabilities to reduce risks before product development. This individual contributor role focuses on experimental work and delivering clear go/no-go outcomes for proofs of concept.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess new technologies, platforms, frameworks, and AI capabilities relevant to the company’s products and markets.
• Evaluate technologies considering existing infrastructure, regulatory requirements, team skills, and costs.
• Maintain documented technology shortlists with clear justifications.
• Present technology assessments to leadership highlighting business opportunities, costs, and risks.
• Design and execute time-boxed proofs of concept with specific questions and success criteria.
• Develop prototypes that test key risks and edge cases, measuring results objectively.
• Provide evidence-based go/no-go recommendations including assumptions and conditions.
• Deliver proven work to Development or AI teams with documentation and reference implementations for productization.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Software Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with .NET / ASP.NET Core and C# (Backend).
• Strong hands-on experience with React or React Native.
• Experience with TypeScript, MS SQL Server/PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building prototypes and proofs of concept and evaluating new technologies.
• Practical experience with AI/Generative AI, including LLM integration, RAG, and model/prompt evaluation.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, including Azure AI/Azure OpenAI.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Bash and PowerShell.
• Experience with LangChain and vector databases is preferred.
• Experience in insurance, financial services, government, or other regulated industries is an advantage.
