Job Summary

The Sales Engineer – Optical Solutions at Ciena supports leading telecom operators and enterprises in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East by designing high-performance networking solutions. This role combines technical expertise with customer collaboration to address complex network challenges and deliver scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Establish trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders in telecom operators across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
• Lead technical discussions, solution workshops, product demos, and proposals that align Ciena’s offerings with customer needs.
• Collaborate with sales, product, engineering, and services teams to create solutions for cloud, AI, 5G, and digital services demands.
• Provide technical advice on optical, transport, routing, and switching technologies.
• Identify growth opportunities by monitoring regional telecom trends and customer network strategies.
• Support customer engagements including presentations, technical validation, and relationship development across the region.

Must haves

• 6+ years of experience in telecommunications, including optical transport, IP/MPLS, networking, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of optical networking, transport technologies, and network architecture concepts.
• Familiarity with the Saudi Arabian and Middle Eastern telecom markets.
• Fluency in English and Arabic with strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Experience presenting technical solutions and supporting customer business goals.
• Willingness to travel within Saudi Arabia and the Middle East as required.

Nice to haves

• Experience with Ciena platforms or similar optical and packet networking technologies.
• Experience working with regional telecom operators.
• Knowledge of network automation and optimization technologies.
• Experience in developing customer and partner relationships in the telecom industry.
