Job Summary

The IRIS System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the IRIS infrastructure and applications to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves system integration, configuration, and continuous improvement of IRIS modules to support organizational goals and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and efficient data exchange across partner API ecosystems.
• Develop ETL processes to ingest healthcare data into FHIR resources and profiles.
• Design and implement scalable data integration and interoperability solutions using IRIS For Health, Ensemble, Cache, and ObjectScript.
• Create tables, classes, program logic, backend API code, and job routines based on solution requirements.
• Develop and maintain healthcare system interfaces using HL7v2, HL7v3, FHIR, CDA, and X12 standards.
• Create and maintain data mapping specifications to convert non-FHIR data formats into FHIR-compliant data.
• Implement terminology mappings such as SNOMED, ICD, LOINC, and apply privacy/confidentiality filters.
• Develop REST/SOAP web services and configure ISC API Manager to create APIs for the solution.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare data privacy and security regulations including HIPAA.
• Maintain documentation of FHIR implementations, data transformation processes, and data flows.
• Use GIT, Atlassian, and scripting to enhance deployment and integration processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in system integration, data migration, and application configuration.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, server management, and network infrastructure.
• Proficiency in SQL, database management, and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.
• Experience with cloud environments and virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of data security standards, access control, and compliance protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Expertise in strategic planning, data analytics, and problem-solving.
• Deep knowledge of digital health technologies and trends focused on innovation.
• Proven experience in project management and client relationship building.
• Understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
