Job Summary

The Intern will assist the Regional Director, East Mediterranean, by supporting business development, market intelligence, strategic analysis, and reporting activities across Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and West Bank & Gaza.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze key sector players, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes in priority sectors of the East Mediterranean region.
• Conduct macroeconomic, sector, and market research including economic trends, regulatory changes, sector performance, and growth prospects.
• Monitor market developments and prepare periodic updates on economic and sector trends relevant to EBRD’s regional activities.
• Collect, analyze, and present data on companies, sectors, and markets to support business development, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
• Assist in preparing sector reviews, market assessments, country briefs, management presentations, and strategic reports.
• Coordinate with EBRD sector teams, economists, country teams, and other departments to gather information and contribute to reports and knowledge products.
• Draft briefing notes, presentations, reports, and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare background materials for meetings with clients, government counterparts, development partners, and other stakeholders, and attend meetings to take notes and support follow-up actions.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to conduct market, sector, and macroeconomic research and summarize findings in concise reports.
• Financial analysis skills and ability to work with financial and operational data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentation preparation.
• Strong research, report writing, and presentation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders across teams and functions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Interest in economic development, private sector development, and emerging markets.
• Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, International Development, or related field.
• Advanced computer literacy, especially in Excel, PowerPoint, and research databases.
• Previous internship or work experience in financial institutions, consulting, research organizations, government agencies, or international organizations is advantageous.
