Job Summary

The Intern Data Engineer at Tabby will engage in real engineering tasks within the Data Platform & ML department, working on analytics and data platforms that support business decisions, product development, and machine learning. The role involves handling production datasets and maintaining engineering standards from the start.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain analytical data models
• Work on SQL-based data transformations and pipelines
• Contribute to data quality checks and validation processes
• Assist in building and maintaining data products for business and engineering teams
• Operate orchestration tools and manage scheduled data workflows
• Participate in discussions regarding data modelling, metrics, and definitions
• Investigate data issues and identify root causes
• Enhance reliability and cost efficiency of data processing

Must haves

• Strong fundamentals in SQL
• Good working knowledge of Python for data processing
• Understanding of relational data models and basic data modelling concepts
• Understanding of analytical data usage for reporting and decision-making
• Ability to read, understand, and modify existing data pipelines or models
• Experience with Git and standard development workflows
• Structured thinking and attention to data correctness
• Open to constructive feedback
• English proficiency sufficient for documentation and team communication

Nice to haves

• Familiarity with analytical data modelling approaches such as star schema and slowly changing dimensions
• Experience with data transformation tools like dbt or similar
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar
• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses like BigQuery or similar
• Exposure to BI tools or data visualization
• Interest in data quality, metrics, and data platform design
