Job Summary

The Director, Industrial Artificial Intelligence leads the strategy and portfolio development to transform operational challenges into scalable AI solutions, enhancing safety, productivity, and efficiency across Maaden’s industrial operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine Maaden’s Industrial AI strategy and direct investments toward high-value opportunities.
• Translate operational priorities in exploration, mining, processing, and asset performance into a balanced AI portfolio with clear criteria.
• Establish operating models, standards, and governance for responsible and consistent Industrial AI scaling.
• Drive improvements in safety, productivity, recovery, reliability, process stability, cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability through AI solutions.
• Advance AI-enabled decision-making across various operational domains including exploration, geology, mine planning, mineral processing, and maintenance.
• Lead the progression of AI initiatives from experimentation to production, adoption, and sustained operational ownership.
• Oversee development and deployment of production-grade AI capabilities integrated with operational technologies and enterprise systems.
• Govern AI solutions ensuring performance, cybersecurity, data governance, explainability, safety, and responsible AI compliance.
• Build and lead an integrated Industrial AI function and foster partnerships across operations, engineering, digital, OT, IT, and external organizations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• PhD in a relevant discipline preferred.
• Over 15 years of relevant experience including at least 7 years in AI, advanced analytics, optimization, automation, or digital transformation.
• Experience in mining, metals, energy, manufacturing, or asset-intensive industrial environments preferred.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams delivering scalable, production-grade AI solutions with measurable operational impact.
• Experience managing complex initiatives from strategy through deployment, adoption, and benefits realization.
• Expertise in Industrial AI strategy, machine learning, GenAI, NLP, LLMs, Agentic AI, optimization, computer vision, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
• Knowledge of mining, mineral processing, industrial operations, operational technology, control systems, historians, digital twins, MLOps, AI lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with responsible AI, cybersecurity, data governance, operational risk, business case development, stakeholder influence, change leadership, talent development, and partnership management.
