Job Summary

The Database Developer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing database systems that support company applications and services, ensuring their performance, integrity, and security. The role involves collaboration with developers and system administrators to deliver scalable database solutions and requires the ability to analyze queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract business rules.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain database architectures including data models and schema designs.
• Implement and optimize databases for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Monitor and tune database performance and resolve related issues.
• Ensure database security through encryption, access control, and security assessments.
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and availability.
• Automate routine database management tasks to enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing.
• Document databases including data dictionaries, ER diagrams, and configurations.

Must haves

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years experience in roles such as Database Engineer, Developer, or DBA focused on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of database design principles, normalization, and indexing.
• Advanced skills in Transact SQL.
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
• Knowledge of data backup, recovery, and security practices.

Nice to haves

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Certification in database management.
• Experience with replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C# and JavaScript.
