Job Summary

The Chief Specialist role at Maaden focuses on advancing mineral exploration by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as automation, advanced sensing, Data & AI, and subsurface analytics to accelerate the transition from exploration insights to validated evidence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and guide the enterprise exploration technology roadmap to enhance discovery and validation using automation, AI, and advanced sensing.
• Translate emerging technologies into practical exploration tools, ensuring scientific validity and business value.
• Incorporate technologies and methods from Oil & Gas, space exploration, academia, and research to strengthen exploration capabilities.
• Integrate geological and geophysical data with AI to improve subsurface interpretation and target evaluation.
• Apply advanced analytics including predictive modeling and physics-informed AI to boost exploration insight speed and confidence.
• Enhance the field-to-lab validation process by linking sensing, drilling, and sampling with automated analysis and digital traceability.
• Design scalable workflows connecting field acquisition, laboratory analysis, and AI-driven interpretation to improve exploration productivity.
• Assess frontier technologies for exploration value, balancing scientific robustness, readiness, cost, and scalability.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Geoscience, Geophysics, Mining Engineering, or related field; MSc or PhD preferred.
• Over 20 years of experience in mineral exploration, subsurface science, or related Oil & Gas exploration sectors.
• Proven experience applying Data & AI, automation, advanced sensing, or subsurface analytics in exploration or similar technical settings.
• Experience with advanced analytical laboratories, mineral characterization, high-throughput testing, and certified analytical methods.
• Knowledge of AI-enabled QA/QC, anomaly detection, confidence estimation, and uncertainty analysis with understanding of field exploration constraints.
• Expertise in mineral exploration technology, subsurface science, and exploration workflow optimization.
• Ability to influence executive-level stakeholders and collaborate across geoscience, digital, engineering, R&D, OEMs, and academia.
