Job Summary

The Data Engineering Manager II at Tamara leads a key engineering area, overseeing delivery and technical strategy across multiple complex domains. This role manages a team of 6-10 senior engineers and collaborates closely with product and business leadership to drive impactful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire senior engineers, aligning technology goals with company vision and product priorities.
• Develop engineering talent, including mentoring senior engineers and future managers, and manage team structure and hiring plans.
• Guide architectural decisions to enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Plan and own delivery initiatives spanning multiple teams, managing resources and resolving cross-team challenges.
• Partner with product and business leaders to influence product strategy and ensure focus on measurable outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment promoting trust, ownership, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• At least 4+ years managing engineering teams with experience leading senior contributors and complex projects.
• Experience owning delivery for initiatives involving multiple teams or complex product areas.
• Strong technical background in software development including Java/Go, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Messaging Queues, and Cloud Services.
• Experience leading architectural discussions and shaping technical strategy.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and aspiring managers.
• Expertise in Agile methodologies and resolving complex cross-team delivery issues.
• Fintech or eCommerce experience is a strong plus.
