Job Summary

The Principal Project Controls Engineer leads project controls activities for major infrastructure and multidisciplinary programs in Saudi Arabia, providing strategic oversight of planning, scheduling, risk management, and performance reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of project controls strategies, procedures, governance, and reporting systems for large projects and programs.
• Implement and maintain integrated project controls systems covering schedule, cost, risk, change, and performance management.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to planning and project controls teams.
• Serve as technical authority on planning, scheduling, and project controls methodologies.
• Develop, review, and assure complex integrated master schedules using Primavera P6.
• Establish Work Breakdown Structures, Control Accounts, coding structures, progress measurement, and baseline programs.
• Facilitate schedule development workshops with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Conduct schedule assurance reviews, program audits, and quality assessments using industry standards.

Must haves

• Extensive experience in project controls, planning, and scheduling on large-scale infrastructure or multidisciplinary programs.
• Proven leadership of project controls functions across complex projects and programs.
• Strong expertise in Primavera P6 and integrated schedule development.
• Experience establishing project controls frameworks, governance, and performance reporting systems.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management, cost and schedule integration, and performance measurement.
• Experience in program assurance, schedule audits, and quality reviews.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to collaborate with project teams, clients, and senior leadership.
• Demonstrated capability in risk management, change control, and project forecasting.

Nice to haves

• Experience supporting infrastructure, transport, aviation, rail, or urban development projects in Saudi Arabia or the region.
• Expertise in forensic program analysis and independent project performance assessment.
• Experience mentoring project controls and planning professionals.
• Knowledge of industry-recognized project controls standards, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience delivering executive-level reporting and strategic performance insights.
