Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer at Buro Happold in Riyadh leads the design and coordination of electrical building-services systems for complex projects, ensuring integration with multidisciplinary teams and sustainable building performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for new-build, refurbishment, and mixed-use developments.
• Develop coordinated electrical solutions through all project phases from concept to construction.
• Design and specify systems including low-voltage power, lighting, emergency lighting, standby power, UPS, earthing, lightning protection, and ELV/ICT interfaces.
• Produce and review electrical calculations, reports, specifications, drawings, and schedules.
• Ensure electrical systems integrate with architectural design, building fabric, and MEP strategies for energy efficiency.
• Coordinate with mechanical, public health, sustainability, and specialist consultants to resolve design interfaces.
• Apply Saudi Arabian, regional, and international codes and standards throughout design.
• Lead technical reviews, quality assurance, and design risk management for electrical deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Significant post-graduate experience in electrical building-services engineering, preferably in multidisciplinary consultancy.
• Experience delivering electrical designs for complex buildings such as commercial, hospitality, residential, cultural, healthcare, education, aviation, transport, or large mixed-use projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical power systems, lighting, emergency systems, standby generation, UPS, earthing, lightning protection, and ELV interfaces.
• Experience coordinating MEP services within architect-led and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and authority requirements relevant to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
• Proficiency in design and analysis software including Revit, AutoCAD, electrical calculation software, and BIM coordination tools.
• Experience preparing specifications, reports, calculations, drawings, and tender documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to engage with clients, architects, contractors, and authorities.
• Ability to manage priorities, work independently, and contribute within a team.
