Job Summary

The Director of Technology (CTO) at Kafaa Capital leads the technology strategy, architecture, and engineering execution to ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technology strategy, system architecture, and engineering standards for backend, web, mobile, and data integrations.
• Drive system modernization, refactoring, and performance improvements while establishing strong software engineering practices.
• Convert business objectives into technical roadmaps balancing feature delivery, technical debt, and security.
• Oversee technical delivery of core platform projects including onboarding, KYC, payment processes, open banking, and investment lifecycle management.
• Manage cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, disaster recovery, and operational performance in development and production environments.
• Set standards for observability, logging, and incident response to maintain high platform availability and reliability.
• Ensure technical compliance with CMA cybersecurity guidelines, NCA Essential Cybersecurity Controls, PDPL, and AML/KYC controls.
• Lead external penetration testing, vulnerability remediation, third-party risk management, and audit preparations.

Must haves

• Saudi national (mandatory).
• CMA 1 Certification (General Securities Qualification Certificate from CMA) – mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience including hands-on production work.
• Minimum 3 years in engineering leadership with responsibility for hiring, team management, and delivery.
• Proven experience managing complex systems end-to-end in fast-paced environments.

Nice to haves

• Experience in fintech, especially regulated financial platforms, onboarding/KYC, payment flows, or investment products.
• Hands-on integration experience with banking networks, payment systems, and financial data providers.
• Experience leading security and compliance programs through audits or regulatory inspections.
• Background in modernizing legacy codebases and leading architecture, data, or operational migrations.
