Presales Engineer – ICT Infrastructure & Physical Security

Job Summary

The Presales Engineer leads the technical aspects of the bidding process by converting client needs, tender documents, and site conditions into feasible, compliant, and cost-effective solutions for ICT infrastructure and physical security/ELV systems. This role also involves preparing technical designs and proposals to support successful bids and ensuring smooth transition to project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Review RFPs, RFIs, tender specs, drawings, and site conditions to determine scope, risks, and requirements.
• Design comprehensive ICT infrastructure and physical security/ELV solutions.
• Create technical designs, AutoCAD drawings, BOQs, material take-offs, compliance matrices, and proposals.
• Conduct technical calculations related to CCTV coverage, VMS storage, bandwidth, PoE, UPS, fibre links, rack elevations, heat loads, cable lengths, and pathway capacity.
• Choose suitable products and technologies considering technical needs, cost, lifecycle, licensing, and client standards.
• Perform site surveys, walk-downs, and verify as-built conditions.
• Present solutions to clients, consultants, and end users; participate in technical clarification meetings.
• Coordinate with OEMs and distributors for technical support, pricing, product info, and authorizations.
• Support demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and pilot setups.
• Provide full technical handover to project delivery and assist with submittals, RFIs, and design changes during execution.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in presales, solution design, or design engineering within systems integrators, ELV contractors, or technology vendors.
• Proven experience managing tenders end-to-end including solution design, BOQ, compliance statements, and technical proposals.
• Strong knowledge of structured cabling, copper and fibre infrastructure, LAN/WAN, switching, routing, VLANs, PoE, Wi-Fi, and data centre/server room infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of CCTV, VMS, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, barriers, turnstiles, and ELV systems.
• Experience with VMS platforms such as Milestone, Genetec, Bosch, Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, or equivalents.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to produce professional technical drawings.
