Technology / Infrastructure Architect

Job Summary

The Technology / Infrastructure Architect is responsible for defining and evolving the enterprise technology and infrastructure architecture to ensure it is reliable, scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective. This role encompasses compute, storage, network, virtualization, operating platforms, infrastructure services, hosting, cloud and hybrid environments, and modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enterprise technology and infrastructure architecture aligned with business strategy and enterprise architecture.
  • Assess current infrastructure including compute, storage, networks, virtualization, operating systems, hosting, and shared services.
  • Define target-state architecture and transition roadmaps for technology and infrastructure.
  • Create technology standards, reference architectures, principles, patterns, and approved technology portfolios.
  • Design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available infrastructure architectures across on-premises, private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Evaluate infrastructure capacity, utilization, performance, availability, and lifecycle status.
  • Identify technology obsolescence, end-of-life risks, technical debt, and opportunities for modernization.
  • Support architecture for backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, high availability, fault tolerance, network, server, storage, virtualization, container, and platform decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, network engineering, cloud, data center, or related technology fields.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure Architecture, Technology Architecture, or a similar senior design role.
  • Proven experience designing complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with data centers, compute, storage, virtualization, networking, cloud, and hybrid architectures.
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure modernization, migration, transformation, or consolidation programs.
  • Strong collaboration with technology vendors, infrastructure teams, security teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of enterprise technology and infrastructure architecture, compute and server architecture, storage, network, virtualization, container platforms, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, data center architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, lifecycle management, infrastructure security, architecture governance, and technology evaluation.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and standards such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, COBIT, cloud architecture frameworks, infrastructure best practices, resilience design principles, and DevOps concepts.
  • Exposure to enterprise architecture tools (Bizzdesign, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Orbus/iServer, ARIS), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), enterprise server/storage/backup/data center technologies, networking and security technologies, and infrastructure monitoring platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or related discipline; TOGAF and cloud architecture certifications are highly desirable; relevant certifications in networking, virtualization, infrastructure, data center, or platform technologies are advantageous.
