Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Backend Engineer at Mada BNPL in Amman is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services for the BNPL platform. This role involves building APIs and microservices, optimizing system performance, and ensuring security and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Java.
• Build and maintain APIs and microservices for the BNPL platform.
• Optimize backend performance and ensure system reliability and security.
• Maintain data integrity across systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Participate in architectural decisions and code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers within the team.

Requirements

• Strong backend development experience with Java, including scalable and secure service design.
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and message queues.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to design resilient, high-availability systems, preferably in fintech or high-traffic environments.
• Strong collaboration and mentorship skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in fintech and payments is a strong plus.
