Senior Principal Airport Planner

Job Summary

The Senior Principal Airport Planner will lead complex aviation projects in Saudi Arabia, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure technical excellence and successful outcomes. This role also involves business development and team capability growth within the aviation sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering airport planning and aviation projects.
• Serve as Technical Lead ensuring quality, technical excellence, and compliance with company standards.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance for project success.
• Manage design engineering activities including stakeholder engagement, budget control, and reporting.
• Maintain strong client relationships as the main technical contact during projects.
• Identify risks and opportunities, implement mitigation, and communicate issues to leadership.
• Develop aviation team capabilities in Saudi Arabia.
• Support business development, proposal preparation, and promote aviation capabilities to secure new work.

Must haves

• Degree in aeronautical engineering, civil engineering, architecture, air transport management, airport planning, or related field.
• Extensive aviation industry experience with leadership in airport planning projects.
• Professional experience across multiple airport planning disciplines including airfield, apron, terminal, landside infrastructure, operations, utilities, and airspace planning.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage medium to large projects or workstreams.
• Strong project and programme management skills with commercial and contractual awareness.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client and stakeholder engagement.

Nice to haves

• Chartered status or qualifications from a recognised professional institution.
• Experience in growing and developing teams in project or organisational settings.
• Familiarity with airport planning software and digital design platforms such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, AviPlan, Infraworks, Navisworks, and Revit.
• Experience with airport simulation and modelling tools for terminal and airfield capacity and demand analysis.
