Customer Engineer

Job Summary

Build and troubleshoot production AI agents and LLM-powered systems for a YC-backed AI startup. You’ll work on backend software engineering, understand customer systems and workflows, and develop solutions using Node.js and TypeScript to help AI agents perform at their best.

Responsibilities

• Build, improve, and troubleshoot production AI agents and LLM-powered systems
• Develop and ship production software using Node.js and TypeScript
• Understand customer systems, workflows, and integrations to adapt AI agents effectively
• Diagnose complex problems and identify root causes quickly
• Improve how agents use context, knowledge, tools, APIs, and integrations
• Design and debug APIs, webhooks, integrations, and agent workflows
• Work directly with international customers and their technical teams
• Own problems end-to-end from understanding through diagnosis, design, build, and validation

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• Strong backend engineering experience and solid full-stack capabilities
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Hands-on experience building AI agents or LLM-powered applications
• Strong understanding of LLMs, tool/function calling, RAG/retrieval, APIs, integrations, and agent workflows
• Excellent debugging, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand unfamiliar systems and business problems quickly
• Fluent English — spoken and written
• Confidence communicating and working directly with international customers
• High ownership, curiosity, and comfort working in a fast-moving startup
