Systems Engineer / Software Engineer (m/w/d)

Job Summary

The Systems Engineer / Software Engineer is responsible for setting up, deploying, and ensuring the reliable operation of software in customer environments for an international software company serving utilities worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Set up and configure customer systems to establish a solid technical foundation.
• Install, configure, and maintain software on customer systems with an automation-first approach.
• Investigate and resolve issues to maintain system stability, including customer support.
• Enhance deployment and operational processes through scripting and automation to minimize manual work.
• Coordinate with internal teams and customer stakeholders to advance projects.
• Travel regularly within the Middle East to customer sites for deployment support and operations.

Must haves

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar Systems Engineer, Ops, Platform, or DevOps role.
• Advanced skills in Linux administration.
• Advanced proficiency in Bash scripting.
• Experience with Kubernetes or SQL databases such as Oracle DB or PostgreSQL (one required, both advantageous).
• Confident English language skills.
• Ability to work reliably during EU core business hours.
• Willingness to travel regularly within the Middle East.

Nice to haves

• Experience in smart metering or IoT environments.
• Ability to debug and support Java applications in production.
• Experience with message brokers like Kafka.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Skills in Bash/Python scripting and basic networking fundamentals.
