Structural Engineer, Design (Rail/Metro)

Job Summary

The Structural Engineer, Design will provide technical oversight for multiple railway and metro projects in Saudi Arabia, ensuring structural designs are robust, compliant, and coordinated. This role involves reviewing design submissions, supporting technical decisions, and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee structural engineering design across several railway projects within the Client’s office in Saudi Arabia.
• Review structural design deliverables from consultants for accuracy, completeness, coordination, and compliance.
• Monitor the development of structural designs for assets including stations, viaducts, bridges, depots, and retaining walls.
• Ensure designs meet project requirements, international codes, local regulations, and authority standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and optimize structural designs.
• Support design assurance, technical governance, and engineering review processes on behalf of the Client.
• Identify design risks, technical gaps, and interface issues, facilitating timely resolutions.
• Participate in design reviews, workshops, technical meetings, and value engineering activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
• At least 15 years of experience in structural engineering design and design review.
• Strong background in structural design consultancy.
• Mandatory experience in railway and/or metro projects.
• Experience with major transportation infrastructure projects involving multiple stakeholders.
• Experience working in the Gulf region and/or Saudi Arabia.
• Good understanding of structural design standards, engineering coordination, and technical review.
• Experience reviewing consultant submissions and working in client or project oversight roles is advantageous.
• Ability to assess technical proposals, identify risks, and resolve complex structural issues.
• Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage.
• Professional registration, chartership, or equivalent accreditation is preferred.
• Experience supporting client organizations or major government transport entities is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Saudi Arabian authority approvals and infrastructure delivery processes is preferred.
