Staff/Lead Data Scientist

Job Summary

Join Agoda’s Data Science and Machine Learning team to design, implement, and optimize machine learning models and algorithms. Work on large-scale data processing systems handling 600 billion events daily and making 5 billion predictions, addressing challenges in dynamic pricing, customer intent prediction, search ranking, and personalization.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, experiment with and implement machine learning models and algorithms to enhance customer experience, supply-side value, and business outcomes.
• Analyze large datasets comprising hundreds of millions of customers and over 600 million daily user-generated events to discover actionable insights.
• Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality daily results.
• Research and identify new ideas and approaches that can drive meaningful improvements and innovation.
• Work on real-world challenges including dynamic pricing, real-time customer intent prediction, search result ranking, content classification, and personalized recommendations.

Must haves

• 4+ years of hands-on data science experience.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML/DL and Statistics with proficiency in related open-source libraries and frameworks.
• Significant proficiency in SQL and programming languages including Python, PySpark, and/or Scala.
• Ability to lead independently and contribute effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working in a multicultural environment.

Nice to haves

• PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or other quantitative fields.
• Experience with NLP, image processing, or recommendation systems.
• Hands-on experience in data engineering and big data frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop.
• Background in data science for e-commerce or online travel agencies.
