Software Engineer

Job Summary

Join Wiley’s engineering teams to design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions serving millions of users globally. You will build features for SaaS platforms, educational tools, and content delivery systems while focusing on quality assurance through regression testing and end-to-end testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge software solutions across SaaS job board platforms, educational tools, and content delivery systems
• Build new features for existing products and create new experiences for learners and users
• Develop regression tests, end-to-end (E2E) tests, and quality assurance solutions to ensure product reliability and performance
• Write unit tests, automated tests, and adhere to code standards to ensure software reliability and scalability
• Partner with team leads, architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies including daily meetings, refinement sessions, planning meetings, and retrospectives
• Work both independently and collaboratively to implement features and contribute to development of high-quality software products
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the team

Requirements

• 2+ years of solid experience in software development
• Proficiency in Java development
• Understanding of object-oriented principles and design patterns
• Experience with web APIs (REST/GraphQL)
• Knowledge of cloud services, predominantly AWS
• Experience with microservices and related technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
• Experience with data storage technologies including Entity Framework, Postgres SQL, and DynamoDB
• SQL knowledge and experience with both relational databases and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with writing unit tests such as JUnit and Mockito
• Hands-on experience using Spring Boot
• Experience with Agile methodologies and Agile development environments
• Experience with JavaScript and modern frameworks (React, ExpressJS)
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web technologies
• Experience with version control systems (Git)
• Understanding of CI/CD processes and automated testing
• Experience with TypeScript, NPM/Yarn package management
• Knowledge of messaging queues such as Apache Kafka and JMS
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills across teams of varying technical expertise
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Passion for technology and willingness to learn and progress
• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environments
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to enhance software development productivity and quality, including code generation, debugging, and critically evaluating AI-generated output
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification (preferred)
• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
