Job Summary
Join Wiley’s Amman engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer to architect, design, and maintain backend systems within a Content Management System. You will work on features that enable authors worldwide to submit and manage research driving scientific discovery.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and maintain key systems and features
- Collaborate with the Software Quality Assurance team within the Scrum team to deliver high-quality releases on schedule
- Learn and follow Agile Scrum methodology and participate in Scrum ceremonies
- Troubleshoot issues in systems under test and production environments
- Conduct design and code reviews
- Work with back-end APIs and components
- Improve code quality through refactoring and technical debt management
- Debug issues efficiently and work with team members across different regions and time zones
Must haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of Java development experience with strong object-oriented design and core programming fundamentals
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Hands-on experience with Spring framework and Hibernate
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git and good understanding of relational databases
- Strong organizational skills and oral/written communication skills in English
Nice to haves
- Experience building RESTful APIs and web services
- Experience with JMS
- Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems
- Strong experience with SQL Server or similar RDBMS, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GCP
