Job Summary
Join Wiley as a Senior Software Engineer specializing in frontend development. You will design and build responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React and JavaScript, while leading technical initiatives and mentoring team members across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, responsive web applications using React, JavaScript, and HTML that enhance customer learning and engagement
- Transform high-level architecture into detailed technical designs and lead implementation across critical technology stack components
- Mentor and coach junior team members while establishing code standards and conducting rigorous code reviews
- Collaborate with design, backend, data engineering, and product teams to deliver intuitive, visually appealing user experiences
- Implement test-driven development practices with continuous integration and deployment into production environments
- Determine and manage code repository structure and branching strategies for the team
- Take ownership of services and customer experience with a full-cycle, full-stack approach
- Discover and implement new technologies to solve complex problems in scalable, robust systems
Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on development experience with proven experience as a technical lead
- Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and React
- Expert proficiency in HTML, CSS, and web technologies
- Advanced proficiency in Java development and object-oriented principles
- Extensive experience with web APIs (REST/GraphQL)
- Advanced knowledge of cloud services, particularly AWS
- Expert-level experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes, and Docker
- Comprehensive database experience including Entity Framework, Postgres SQL, DynamoDB, and NoSQL databases
- Experience with TypeScript, NPM/Yarn package management, and modern frameworks and libraries
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
