Job Summary

The Senior Power System Planning Expert at Elia Grid International (EGI) is responsible for delivering strategic and technical advisory services in power system planning, focusing on integrating renewable energy sources and optimizing transmission investments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and define planning principles for power systems.
• Define and validate power system models.
• Enhance methodologies for planning power systems with high integration of RES and BESS, demand evolution, and transmission investment optimization.
• Link technico-economic models to identify critical operating points.
• Perform steady-state analyses including load flow, short circuit calculations, and hosting capacity.
• Conduct dynamic stability analyses such as frequency, transient, and voltage stability.
• Support grid reliability and security evaluations including capacity calculation, balancing, and operational planning.
• Write reports presenting analysis results and interact with clients to propose and convince on solutions and development plans.
• Supervise power system teams and manage consultancy service projects.
• Support business development by building client relationships and developing proposals.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in Power System Planning including master planning, pre-feasibility of transmission investments, RES integration, and BESS optimization.
• Ability to translate complex data into strategic insights and actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency with power system simulation tools such as PowerFactory and PSSE.
• Basic knowledge of power system economics.
• Team player with good oral presentation skills.
• Ability to interact with international clients.
• Fluent in English.
• Knowledge of Arabic is a strong asset.
