Senior Non-Key Expert – Ports and Shipping Specialist

Job Summary

NTU International A/S seeks a Senior Non-Key Expert in Ports and Shipping to provide technical assistance for maritime and inland waterways infrastructure projects globally. The role involves supporting project identification, feasibility studies, policy reforms and sustainable transport initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia-Pacific regions.

Responsibilities

• Support identification, preparation and implementation of maritime, port and inland waterways infrastructure projects
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses
• Support port and logistics master planning, connectivity planning and multimodal transport integration
• Advise on port infrastructure development, maritime transport services and inland waterways systems
• Support sustainable maritime transport and port decarbonisation measures, including energy efficiency and electrification initiatives
• Contribute to policy, regulatory and institutional reforms in the maritime sector
• Support capacity building for public authorities, port authorities, operators and sector stakeholders
• Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including public authorities, port operators, contractors and development partners

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent in maritime engineering, maritime sciences, port engineering, transport engineering, logistics or directly related discipline
• At least 15 years of general professional experience in the maritime sector
• At least 7 years of professional experience in planning, design, supervision or management of maritime and/or port infrastructure and services
• At least 3 years of proven professional experience in sustainable maritime transport and port decarbonisation, including energy efficiency, electrification, green port infrastructure, renewable fuels and emissions reduction
• Professional experience related to G20 Principles for Quality Infrastructure Investment in the maritime sector
• Excellent knowledge of maritime and inland waterways sectors, ports, maritime transport and related policies
• Understanding of sustainable transport, infrastructure development, climate resilience and environmental and social considerations
• Knowledge of development aid delivery methods
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer skills
• English proficiency at C1 level (mandatory)

• Professional experience in developing countries
• Professional experience providing support to governance and capacity building in the maritime sector
• Professional experience with EU rules and procedures
• French at minimum B2 level or Spanish at minimum B2 level
