Senior PHP Backend Developer

Job Summary

FileCloud seeks a Senior PHP Backend Developer for their Riyadh office to develop server-side functionality and build scalable cloud-based services as part of the Growth & Expansion team.

Responsibilities

• Develop elegant and efficient software to support and extend current FileCloud products
• Solve complex architectural challenges when implementing new features
• Integrate with databases, file systems, and cloud services to deliver solutions
• Troubleshoot and fix reported customer issues, delivering software patches
• Share knowledge and experience with other engineers
• Use tools including PHPStorm, MongoDB, NodeJS, AWS/AZURE, GIT, Memcache, Code Reviews, PHPUnit, and Solr

Must haves

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 3+ years of web app development experience
• 3+ years of PHP development experience
• Strong knowledge of automation testing, client-server architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
• Proficiency in PHP ecosystems including PHP 8.2+, Composer, and PHPUnit
• Knowledge of web technologies including HTTP protocol, XML, and REST
• Highly proficient in spoken and written English with strong communication skills
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor in daily development workflow

Nice to haves

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline
• Knowledge of modern PHP frameworks
• Experience in enterprise system architecture including Architecture Patterns, Eventing, and Queues
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases like MongoDB and their declarative query languages
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Docker, SOLR, and Redis
• Experience developing with NodeJS, JavaScript, or TypeScript
