Senior Fire Protection Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for reviewing fire protection and firefighting system designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and verifying technical documentation for projects in Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities

• Review fire protection and firefighting design submissions at various stages including concept, schematic, detailed design, and shop drawings.
• Examine fire protection drawings, specifications, design calculations, equipment schedules, technical reports, and related documents.
• Assess the design and adequacy of systems such as automatic sprinkler, fire hose reel, fire hydrant and riser systems, fire pumps, water storage tanks, foam-based suppression, water mist, clean-agent suppression, pre-action and deluge, kitchen hood suppression, and other special-hazard systems.
• Evaluate system zoning, hydraulic demand, water supply, equipment layout, and system interface requirements.
• Confirm that design calculations and equipment choices align with the fire protection strategy and relevant requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
• NFPA professional certifications CFPS and CWBSP.
• At least 10 years of experience in fire protection and firefighting system design or technical design review.
• Between 5 and 7 years of experience in Saudi Arabia with knowledge of local Civil Defence requirements, codes, standards, and approval procedures.
• Proven experience reviewing fire protection and suppression system designs for code compliance and authority approval.
