Senior Fire Alarm Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Fire Alarm Engineer is responsible for reviewing fire alarm and detection system designs and technical submissions to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including Saudi Civil Defence requirements.

Responsibilities

• Examine fire alarm and detection system design submissions at different design stages and during construction.
• Assess drawings, specifications, design reports, calculations, equipment schedules, models, and other technical documents.
• Evaluate the design and application of various fire alarm systems such as addressable, automatic detection, smoke, heat, flame, aspirating smoke, beam detection, manual alarm, emergency voice/alarm communication, control and annunciation, and firefighter communication systems.
• Verify detector types, spacing, coverage, zoning, and device locations against relevant codes.
• Review fire alarm loop configurations, system architecture, circuit layouts, and equipment choices.
• Check power supply, standby power, and battery calculation requirements.
• Review audibility and visual notification needs and related calculations when applicable.
• Analyze cause-and-effect matrices, input/output schedules, and fire alarm system operation sequences.
• Confirm fire alarm interfaces with other fire and life safety systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in fire alarm and detection system design, engineering, or technical review.
• Between 5 and 7 years of experience in Saudi Arabia, preferably with authority/Civil Defence submissions and approvals.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and other applicable fire alarm and life safety standards.
• Relevant NFPA certifications such as CFPS, CFI-II, or CFPE.
• Proven experience reviewing fire alarm and detection systems for complex buildings and developments.
• Experience reviewing fire alarm interfaces with fire protection, firefighting, smoke control, and alternative fire suppression systems.
• Familiarity with local Civil Defence requirements and approval processes.
