Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, review, coordination, and construction supervision of electrical systems for major high-rise residential, commercial, hospitality, and mixed-use building developments in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires technical leadership to ensure compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, international standards, and sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, review, and coordination of electrical systems for high-rise and complex building developments.
• Review and approve electrical calculations, load schedules, single-line diagrams, technical reports, and specifications.
• Perform electrical load assessments, voltage drop calculations, short-circuit studies, protection coordination studies, and power system analysis.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, fire and life safety consultants, and specialist contractors.
• Review contractor submissions including shop drawings, material submittals, technical queries, method statements, and testing procedures.
• Conduct site inspections and witness testing, commissioning, and energization activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and quality standards.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews, value engineering workshops, and technical coordination meetings.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and project teams.

Must haves

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
• 15 to 20 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience on major high-rise and large-scale building projects.
• Strong expertise in electrical building services design and engineering.
• Experience with power system studies and electrical distribution network design.
• Familiarity with testing, commissioning, and energization procedures.

Nice to haves

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Professional Engineer registration or Chartered Engineer status.
• Membership of IEEE, IET, or Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
• LEED AP, Mostadam, or other sustainability-related certifications; previous experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC countries; experience in consultant, PMC, or multidisciplinary engineering consultancy environments.
