Senior Consultant – Architectural Lighting Designer

Job Summary

WSP Middle East seeks a Senior Consultant in Architectural Lighting Design to join the Innovation Lighting Design team across KSA and the UAE. The role involves leading lighting design projects from concept through completion, overseeing teams, and delivering high-quality design solutions for complex, high-impact projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead lighting design projects across all stages and deliverables, overseeing consultants and support teams to ensure successful execution.
• Communicate design ideas verbally and visually, developing unique lighting concepts tailored to client briefs and proposing innovative solutions.
• Apply a holistic, whole-building approach to lighting design rather than systems-based thinking.
• Produce high-quality deliverables including concept presentations, luminaire specifications, control schedules, calculations, BOQ, layouts, and detailed drawings using InDesign, Photoshop, Dialux or Relux, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, and BIM.
• Conduct site inspections, defect reviews, and commissioning supervision to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
• Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, interior designers, and other disciplines throughout project stages while liaising with stakeholders independently.
• Supervise contractor lighting implementation with hands-on technical involvement and coordinate technical workshops with suppliers.
• Contribute to team growth, share industry knowledge, and ensure health and safety practices are integrated into all work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field, plus Master’s degree in Architectural Lighting Design or similar discipline with full professional qualifications.
• Minimum 08 years of relevant experience in lighting design consultancy.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in lighting design tools (Dialux/Relux), CAD/BIM platforms, and presentation software.
• Ability to work independently and remotely while remaining engaged with the core team.
• Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
• Understanding of human-centric lighting, sustainable design, and relevant industry standards and codes.
• Ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects.
• Collaborative mindset with willingness to learn and adapt.
• Proficiency in hand sketching and creating visually appealing lighting design documents.
