Senior Bridge Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Bridge Engineer oversees design review, construction supervision, inspection, and technical compliance of bridge and structural works on major Roads and Highways projects in Riyadh. The role ensures all bridge-related works are executed according to approved designs, specifications, local and international standards, and project schedules while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Review bridge designs, shop drawings, and construction documents for compliance with project specifications, design criteria, AASHTO, BS, Eurocodes, and Saudi standards.
• Supervise construction activities for bridges, flyovers, interchanges, underpasses, retaining walls, culverts, and associated structures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and structural assessments, witnessing material testing, pile load tests, concrete works, and post-tensioning activities.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Highway Engineers, Contractors, Utility Teams, and Client representatives on technical matters and progress.
• Promote and enforce project HSE requirements, ensuring bridge construction activities comply with safety regulations and approved procedures.
• Monitor progress of bridge works against project schedules and prepare weekly and monthly technical reports.
• Review technical aspects of variations, claims, and Requests for Information to support contract administration.
• Evaluate design modifications and value engineering proposals, providing technical guidance on structural and bridge engineering issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with specialization in Structural or Bridge Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in bridge and structural engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience on major Roads and Highways infrastructure projects.
• Previous experience in construction supervision consultancy roles.
• Proven experience with bridges, flyovers, grade-separated interchanges, viaducts, underpasses, and retaining structures.
• Strong knowledge of bridge engineering principles and structural analysis.
• Experience with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel bridge structures.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD, Eurocodes, BS Standards, and Saudi regulations.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as MIDAS Civil, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, or CSI Bridge.
• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification, GCC and Saudi Arabia project experience, experience on projects valued above SAR 500 million, knowledge of bridge inspection and maintenance techniques, and understanding of FIDIC contractual procedures are advantageous.
