Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js, Python, AWS)

Job Summary

This full-time remote position based in Jordan involves designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services, data pipelines, and APIs for a self-storage management platform. The role focuses on infrastructure, data modeling, and AI-powered features to support a growing software company.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and Node.js.
• Create and improve deployment pipelines and CI/CD workflows for dependable releases.
• Manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform on AWS services like ECS, Lambda, RDS, and SQS.
• Develop data models and handle relational databases with SQL and Prisma ORM.
• Integrate and experiment with AI/ML libraries including LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and LangChain.
• Implement workflow orchestration for data and AI pipelines.
• Ensure backend systems are highly available, scalable, and secure.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and data teams to deliver complete solutions.

Must haves

• At least 5 years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong skills with Terraform and AWS.
• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.
• In-depth knowledge of data modeling, SQL, and database schema design.
• Experience with Prisma ORM or similar tools.
• Understanding of deployment pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Temporal, Prefect, or AWS Step Functions.
• Hands-on experience with AI frameworks like LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and LangChain.

Nice to haves

• Experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and ECS.
• Interest in applied AI and building production-ready ML/AI systems.
