Roadway Engineer

Job Summary

Parsons seeks a Roadway Engineer to develop and review roadway improvement designs ranging from conceptual through final stages in Riyadh. You will translate traffic-management findings and field observations into safe, standards-compliant roadway improvements while coordinating with traffic engineers, civil engineers, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop roadway improvement concepts and design packages from conceptual through preliminary and final design stages.
• Prepare and review horizontal and vertical geometry, lane configurations, medians, turn lanes, auxiliary lanes, channelization, and localized intersection improvements.
• Conduct site investigations and review existing roadway geometry, pavement, drainage, barriers, signs, markings, utilities, pedestrian facilities, and constructability constraints.
• Apply current Saudi and internationally recognized roadway-design standards and criteria appropriate to the project and design stage.
• Prepare conceptual sketches, typical sections, plan layouts, design calculations, quantities, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate roadway improvements with traffic signal equipment, ITS devices, lighting, drainage, utilities, structures, and other affected infrastructure.
• Review consultant and contractor roadway-design submissions and provide technical comments on compliance, geometry, safety, and constructability.
• Support construction-stage technical queries, site inspections, and resolution of unforeseen field conditions.

Must haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization or substantial experience in roadway/highway design.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in roadway design, highway engineering, urban road improvements, or closely related civil transportation work.
• Demonstrated experience developing roadway designs from conceptual through final design stages.
• Strong knowledge of horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection geometry, lane configuration, medians, shoulders, ramps, and pedestrian facilities.
• Proficiency with roadway-design and CADD tools such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation, or AutoCAD.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary design teams.

Nice to haves

• Previous roadway-design experience in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, or the GCC.
• Familiarity with Saudi highway and urban-road design standards and RCRC/MOT/MOMRAH requirements.
• Professional engineering registration such as PE, CEng, or equivalent.
• Arabic language skills.
