RF/SATCOM Technician

Job Summary

Install, sustain, troubleshoot, and repair radio frequency wireless, satellite, and encryption transmission devices. Maintain multiple waveform systems, conduct tests to restore communications equipment, and ensure compliance with technical standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, sustain, troubleshoot, and repair standard radio frequency wireless, line-of-sight, beyond line-of-sight, wideband, ground-based satellite, and encryption transmission devices
• Assemble, connect, secure, and interconnect components such as transmitters, power supplies, and antenna assemblies
• Resolve installation, repair, and modification problems associated with communications equipment using orbiting communication satellite, line-of-sight, and tropospheric scatter techniques
• Conduct tests to restore and maintain systems using layout drawings, schematics, and pictorial diagrams
• Perform intricate alignment and calibration procedures to ensure maximum operating efficiency
• Review and ensure compliance with maintenance management publications and procedures
• Maintain inspection and maintenance records, post entries, record meter readings, and complete maintenance data collection forms
• Maintain systems including CM-200, CM-300, GRC-171 & 211, GRR-23/24, PCAS, GRT-21/22, PRC-117F/G, RT-1319, TRC-176, URC-200, EPLRS radio, MIDS LVT 2, MIDS LVT 11, AN/TRC-214, Joint Radio Relay (JR2), Cornet TVCS-L, LHSC, RT9000D, 721S-1, 721S-2, ALE, Have Quick, SINCGARS, KY-100, VSAT VRC-103, TTRS, RT-1747, Sun Air RT-9000, Hawkeye Lite, Ranger 1200, iDirect 850/950 Modem, and 2050E Modem

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Formal electronics training such as military technical training school, vocational college, or a four (4) year electronics apprentice program with experience in electronics equipment the technician will maintain
• Minimum IAT Level II baseline certification in accordance with AFMAN 17-1303
• IP fundamentals knowledge
• Familiarity with deployable communications systems
• RF/SATCOM principles highly desired
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM Medical Exam
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance; US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
