Quality and Patient Safety Consultant

Job Summary

The Quality and Patient Safety Consultant will provide technical guidance to national counterparts and partners across the Eastern Mediterranean region on quality standards, patient safety policies, and implementation strategies. The role involves developing guidance documents, analyzing quality and safety data, and supporting the design and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives in health facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice to national counterparts and partners on quality standards, patient safety policies, and implementation strategies
  • Review and develop guidance documents, tools, and training materials related to quality and patient safety
  • Analyze data and reports related to quality and safety in health facilities
  • Contribute to the design and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in meetings and workshops, and facilitate capacity-building sessions
  • Collaborate with WHO staff and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with global and regional frameworks
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings to inform decision-makers and support advocacy for safer, higher-quality health services

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in health care quality improvement and patient safety frameworks, including development and implementation of standards, indicators, and safety protocols
  • Experience in health systems strengthening, policy analysis, and program implementation in public health or clinical settings, preferably within international or regional organizations
  • Proficiency in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and use of evidence to inform recommendations, reports, and strategic planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams, engage with national authorities and partners, and manage multiple tasks with limited supervision
  • Advanced university degree in medicine, public health, health policy, health management, or a related field
  • Relevant professional experience in hospitals or health systems, including hands-on involvement in quality improvement or patient safety initiatives in the Eastern Mediterranean region or similar contexts
  • Specialized training in quality of care or patient safety is highly desirable
