Principal Consultant – Fire & Life Safety

Job Summary

The Principal Consultant – Fire & Life Safety at WSP in Riyadh leads fire protection and life safety consulting for major projects in the Middle East. This role involves developing strategies, managing client relations, and ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and managerial leadership for fire and life safety projects regionally.
• Advise on the selection and design of fire detection, alarm, suppression, smoke control, and passive fire protection systems for complex projects.
• Ensure compliance with Saudi and international fire safety codes through design reviews and inspections.
• Lead fire risk assessments and hazard analyses, developing mitigation plans for significant projects.
• Oversee testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systems to meet regulatory and design criteria.
• Serve as the main client contact, offering expert guidance and maintaining client satisfaction.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, stakeholders, and authorities to facilitate project delivery.
• Mentor senior and junior consultants to promote knowledge sharing and innovation in fire safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field such as Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Architecture.
• 12 to 15 years of experience in fire life safety/protection engineering consulting, including at least 5 years in leadership.
• In-depth knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 and SBC 801) and international codes like UAE, IBC, NFPA, and BS.
• Proven expertise in fire protection design, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke control, risk assessments, and compliance audits.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.
• Professional license or certifications in fire protection (PE, CEng, CFPS, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
