Network Engineer Tier 2

Job Summary

Network Engineer Tier 2 responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex network issues across global infrastructure, leading medium-scale network projects, and serving as the primary technical escalation point for NOC and Tier 1 teams.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve critical and chronic network issues using packet capture, flow analysis, and protocol-level inspection, driving investigations to permanent fixes
• Own site turn-ups, technology migrations, and major firmware upgrades end to end, including implementation, testing, and rollback planning
• Serve as technical escalation for Tier 1 and NOC analysts, mentor junior engineers, and maintain runbooks and documentation
• Review low-level design specifications with Tier 3 engineers for feasibility and operational supportability
• Manage firewall policy, site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, and IPS tuning
• Author and execute changes under ITIL v4 Change Management with proper impact assessment

Must haves

• 3–5 years of progressive experience as a Network Engineer or senior technical specialist
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• One current industry certification: CCNA, Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP), or JNCIA-Junos
• Expert-level knowledge of BGP and EIGRP
• Advanced switching knowledge including HSRP/VRRP, spanning tree, and complex QoS
• Firewall configuration and policy management expertise
• Deep proficiency with Wireshark and network performance monitoring (NPM) platforms
• Working Python or Bash scripting for network automation
• Solid understanding of ITIL v4 Change, Incident, and Problem Management

Nice to haves

• CCNP (Enterprise or Security)
• ITIL v4 Foundation certification
• Ansible, Netmiko, or NAPALM experience
• SD-WAN or cloud networking experience (AWS/Azure) and global multi-site experience
