Job Summary
The Lead Subcontract Mechanical Engineer oversees mechanical subcontractors and construction packages for power projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely execution aligned with contractual and project standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical subcontractors from mobilization to project close-out.
- Conduct technical evaluation and comparison of bidders’ offers.
- Estimate labor productivity and calculate man-hours for erection and construction tasks.
- Supervise subcontracted mechanical works including equipment installation, piping, tanks, pumps, rotating and static equipment, structural steel, and related systems.
- Review subcontractor execution plans, manpower, equipment, schedules, and construction methods.
- Monitor progress and productivity against approved schedules and milestones.
- Ensure subcontractors follow approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project procedures.
- Support mechanical completion, punch-list clearance, turnover, and handover to commissioning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10–12 years of relevant experience, preferably in EPC construction projects.
- Experience in roles such as Manager, Construction Manager, or Subcontract Manager.
- Preference for candidates with power plant/CCGT construction experience including major mechanical installation packages.
- Experience managing mechanical subcontractors on large industrial projects.
- Understanding of mechanical construction sequencing, interfaces, progress measurement, contracts, variations, and claims.
- Strong leadership, coordination, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of English.
- Experience with Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Projects, Gas Turbine & Steam Turbine Systems, HRSG Design & Integration, Balance of Plant (BOP) Engineering, Power Plant Mechanical Design Review, and EPC Power Generation Projects is preferred.
