Junior Prompt Engineer

Job Summary

Bridge the gap between raw financial data and automated insights by refining how language models interpret investment reports and legal filings. You will write and test prompts, identify failure points, and maintain documentation to ensure consistent and accurate AI-driven data extraction for a major investment firm.

Responsibilities

• Write and refine instructions for language models to extract specific data points from investment reports and legal filings.
• Run systematic tests to evaluate how different prompt variations affect output consistency and accuracy.
• Identify failure points where the model misinterprets financial terminology or complex document formatting.
• Maintain a detailed library of successful prompts and document the logic behind why they work for specific document types.
• Work with senior practitioners to integrate AI responses into larger automated workflows.
• Review logs of model interactions to flag conflicting information and adjust instructions to prevent errors.
• Compare performance across different model versions to find the most reliable and cost-effective approach for each task.
• Update internal standard operating procedures and create training materials for the client’s internal teams.

Requirements

• Strong interest in how language models can solve business tasks.
• Clear writing skills with the ability to give logical and unambiguous instructions.
• Structured approach to problem solving, similar to troubleshooting complex Excel formulas or basic scripts.
• Comfort working with data in spreadsheets to track model performance and identify recurring errors.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while keeping the team informed through written updates.
• High degree of attention to detail when checking for discrepancies in large blocks of financial text.
• Basic knowledge of existing AI tools and willingness to learn how different models react to specific constraints.
• Curiosity about how businesses operate and desire to see processes become more efficient.
