GIS/Data Visualization Specialist, MELA

Job Summary

The GIS/Data Visualization Specialist will support data management, analysis, and visualization for the Jordan MELA team, creating clear visual products such as maps and dashboards to aid decision-making and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist GIS and data visualization tasks within Jordan MELA activities.
• Create maps, dashboards, charts, infographics, and other visual materials to effectively communicate findings.
• Perform spatial analyses and develop GIS products to support planning, monitoring, and decision-making.
• Prepare and organize data for mapping and visualization purposes.
• Collaborate with technical staff to convert program data into accessible visual formats for various audiences.
• Support the design and upkeep of interactive dashboards and reporting tools.
• Ensure accuracy, proper labeling, and alignment of visual products with client and project requirements.
• Assist in maintaining geospatial data standards, metadata, and documentation, and support quality control for visualization and GIS outputs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, data science, statistics, information systems, international development, or related field preferred.
• At least 4 years of experience in GIS, data visualization, data analysis, or related technical roles.
• Proven experience creating maps, dashboards, and other data visualization products.
• Strong knowledge of GIS software and visualization tools such as ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Preferred experience with development, MEL, or foreign assistance data.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and quality assurance skills.
• Ability to present technical information clearly through visual formats.
• Experience working in Jordan and/or the MENA region is strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.
