Field Engineer – Mechanical

Job Summary

The Field Engineer – Mechanical will oversee mechanical construction activities for a major development project in Riyadh, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and commissioned per project specifications and standards. The role involves close collaboration with engineering and construction teams to deliver complex mechanical building services.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanical construction works to ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Monitor installation of HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, LPG, fuel systems, and related mechanical infrastructure.
  • Review contractor submissions including shop drawings, materials, method statements, and technical documents.
  • Verify compliance of mechanical equipment and materials with project specifications and approved submittals.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and correct installation standards.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with architectural, structural, electrical, and specialist systems to prevent clashes.
  • Witness testing, commissioning, pressure tests, flushing, balancing, and integrated system verification activities.
  • Ensure implementation of QA/QC and HSE requirements throughout mechanical works.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering and construction supervision.
  • Minimum 5 years as a Mechanical Field Engineer, Site Engineer, or Inspector on major building projects.
  • Experience with large-scale buildings such as convention centers, hotels, resorts, and mixed-use developments.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, firefighting systems, and mechanical building services.
  • Familiarity with international standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, and Saudi codes.
  • Experience reviewing mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of testing, adjusting, balancing (TAB), commissioning, and handover processes.
  • Experience in Site Supervision Consultancy, PMC, or Engineering Consultancy preferred.
  • Previous work on Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is highly preferred.
