Engineering Manager – I

Job Summary

Lead a team of 4-6 engineers (Backend, Frontend, QA) in developing and enhancing payment solutions for Tamara’s fintech platform. As Engineering Manager I, you will provide technical direction, foster quality practices, and drive execution of your team’s roadmap while supporting engineer growth and career development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of 4-6 engineers, providing clear direction aligned with company vision and building a culture of trust and ownership.
• Develop engineering talent through coaching, mentoring, constructive feedback, and 1:1s to attract, develop, and retain strong team members.
• Maintain strong technical understanding of your team’s software architecture and provide technical direction in collaboration with senior engineers.
• Drive quality practices including code reviews, testing, CI/CD adoption, and observability across the team.
• Plan and manage team execution to deliver roadmap commitments, breaking down complex work with Product and UX teams.
• Identify risks early, communicate them to stakeholders, and actively work to mitigate them.
• Partner with Product and business leadership to align technical goals with product priorities and influence product strategy.
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and the architecture board to ensure consistency and shared learning.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in an engineering leadership role (Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager) guiding a team of at least 4 engineers.
• Strong technical background in software development including Java, Go, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Messaging Queues, and Cloud Services.
• Motivated by working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Fintech/eCommerce experience is a plus.
