Energy Efficiency Engineer

Job Summary

Senior Technical Consultant providing expert technical oversight and advisory services for a large-scale industrial energy efficiency improvement program. The role involves supporting program design, reviewing energy audit deliverables, validating energy conservation measures, overseeing retrofit implementation, and verifying energy savings across multiple industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for industrial energy efficiency and optimization projects, assessing and optimizing major utility systems including steam, electrical power, compressed air, cooling, and process utilities.
  • Review and evaluate Walkthrough Assessments, Investment Grade Energy Audits, Retrofit Designs, and Measurement & Verification reports.
  • Validate energy baselines, Energy Conservation Measures, projected savings, and implementation methodologies.
  • Perform and review financial assessments including NPV, IRR, payback period, and lifecycle cost analyses.
  • Support project governance, provide independent technical recommendations and risk assessments, and liaise with clients, auditors, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Develop technical guidelines, standard operating procedures, templates, and best-practice documentation.
  • Deliver technical training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing programs to support client capability development.
  • Monitor project progress and support issue resolution during implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline).
  • Experienced in industrial energy efficiency, energy management, process optimization, or utility system performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting or reviewing energy audits, retrofit projects, and Measurement & Verification activities.
  • Strong understanding of industrial utilities, energy systems, and energy performance improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and techno-economic evaluation capabilities.
  • Excellent technical report review and validation skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 50001, ASHRAE standards, and IPMVP protocols.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Master’s degree in Energy Management or related field, or professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), CMVP, PE, or PMP are advantageous.
