Director of Hardware Engineering

Job Summary

Lead the complete hardware development of the think AI Node line, from thermal and electrical design through manufacturing and supply chain. Own the hardware architecture that enables density and performance at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the hardware roadmap across the Node line, from desk-side to rack scale.
• Design and oversee thermal architecture, including sealed loops, heat exchange paths, flow distribution and pressure monitoring systems.
• Establish engineering standards for design review, simulation gates, thermal qualification, leak testing and supplier qualification.
• Review and approve every validation cycle and prototype before manufacturing.
• Lead failure analysis for field returns and establish corrective action processes.
• Build and manage a multidisciplinary team across thermal, electrical, mechanical, firmware and validation disciplines.
• Partner with software engineering on the telemetry interface between hardware and ILM.

Must haves

• Ten years or more in hardware engineering, including four years leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Deep expertise in at least two of: high-density accelerated compute, liquid cooling at scale, data centre hardware, or HPC server architecture.
• Experience taking hardware from concept through simulation, prototype, verification, qualification and volume production.
• Fluency in thermal management including heat transfer, single and two-phase liquid cooling, interface materials, manifold design, pump selection and redundancy.
• Knowledge of electrical design for multi-kilowatt power delivery and mechanical design for chassis, vibration, sealing and manufacturability.
• Based in Riyadh or willing to relocate.

Nice to haves

• Direct experience designing custom liquid cooling at scale.
• Simulation experience with Fluent, SolidWorks Flow, OpenFOAM or equivalent.
• Supply chain leadership including supplier qualification, dual sourcing and cost engineering.
• Founding engineer or hardware leadership at a deep-tech company that reached volume production.
