Data Platform Engineer Intern

Job Summary

One-year internship with Zain Jordan’s Data Analytics & AI Department for fresh graduates. The role involves supporting data pipeline development, deployment, and monitoring across cloud and big data platforms, while assisting with troubleshooting and automation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support development, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines using Cloudera, Apache NiFi, Kafka, Spark, and related platforms
• Troubleshoot data-platform issues by analyzing application logs, system metrics, SQL queries, and data-flow dependencies
• Develop scripts and utilities in Python, SQL, and Linux shell scripting to automate operational and data-processing tasks
• Support data validation, performance optimization, documentation, and controlled deployment across development and production environments
• Collaborate with infrastructure, database, security, and business teams to investigate incidents and deliver reliable data solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• Good foundation in SQL, relational databases, and data-processing concepts
• Working knowledge of Python and Linux command-line environments
• Basic understanding of data engineering technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, NiFi, or Airflow
• Shell scripting experience is an advantage
• Familiarity with APIs, Git, containerization, Kubernetes, or CI/CD concepts is preferred
• Basic understanding of networking, authentication, logging, and systematic application troubleshooting
• Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving approach
• Clear communication and ability to document technical findings accurately
• Ability to accept feedback, adapt quickly, and collaborate across technical teams
