Data Engineer Intern

Job Summary

The Data Engineer Intern at SiFi in Riyadh will assist in building and maintaining data pipelines and models, working alongside experienced engineers on data infrastructure and AI/ML projects supporting fintech products.

Responsibilities

• Help develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data collection, processing, and transformation.
• Create and optimize SQL queries for data analysis and processing.
• Support the design, development, and upkeep of data warehouses.
• Assist with data modeling tasks including fact tables, dimension tables, and slowly changing dimensions (SCD Type 2).
• Gain experience with cloud data platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
• Work with data transformation tools such as dbt or SQLMesh.
• Support data quality assurance, testing, monitoring, and pipeline observability.
• Assist in applying CI/CD practices to data pipelines and models.

Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in SQL and relational databases.
• Basic understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline workflows.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and data modeling concepts.
• Basic knowledge of Python is advantageous.
• Exposure to GCP, BigQuery, dbt, or SQLMesh through academic or internship experience is a plus.
• Understanding of data quality, testing, and version control concepts is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and learning abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
