Job Summary
VTEL Holdings Limited – Jordan is seeking a Data Center Engineer to operate, maintain, and support datacenter infrastructure in Aqaba. The role involves 24/7 monitoring, hardware installation, and coordination of datacenter operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain datacenter infrastructure including servers, storage, racks, UPS, PDU, and cooling systems
- Monitor datacenter environment 24/7 and respond to alerts and incidents promptly
- Install and commission datacenter hardware such as servers, switches, patch panels, and cabling
- Ensure proper physical organization of datacenter racks, cabling, and equipment labeling
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and hardware inspections
- Support basic network tasks including VLAN configuration, IP addressing, and cable patching
- Log incidents and tasks through the ticketing system and generate reports on datacenter availability and performance
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance and ensure physical security procedures are followed
Requirements
- BSc in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related field
- 2 years of experience in datacenter operations or similar role
- Understanding of datacenter infrastructure including racks, UPS, PDU, CRAC units, and structured cabling
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing, VLANs, switching, and routing
- Hands-on experience with server and network hardware installation
- Ability to work in shifts including night shift
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Arabic and English communication
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios is a plus
- Knowledge of Cisco or Huawei equipment is a plus
